Get ready for an incredible transformation happening right in the heart of Newton Abbot! A former shoe store in Bank Street is being converted into the ultimate destination for families, set to open its doors this summer. Deo Gloria, a vibrant community coffee shop with an amazing children’s play area, is making its way into town.

Owned by the Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance, a registered charity, Deo Gloria aims to create a safe and welcoming space for all families. Their website expresses their enthusiasm about becoming part of the community very soon.

Deo Gloria has big ambitions to enhance the community spirit in Newton Abbot. Not only will it serve as a cozy haven for families, but it will also provide an inspiring environment for students, community groups, projects, and professionals seeking a creative workspace. Within the café, a dedicated two-tier soft play area will cater to the needs of families living in the community, offering a much-needed space to bond and have fun.

The website proudly declares, “Deo Gloria is owned by ‘Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance. Registered charity 251549.’ We are a Community Coffee shop looking to open our doors to all those in the area soon! One-third of our space will be specifically designated for families and young children. This will include a fantastic 2-tier soft play area with additional toys and activities, fulfilling a significant need within the community.”

The statement goes on to say, “We want everyone to feel that Deo Gloria is a safe and welcoming place: a spot for families to unwind and enjoy, students to hang out after school, community groups and projects to find a home, professionals to get their creative juices flowing, and friendly faces to catch up over some delightful coffee and cake.”

The main goal at Deo Gloria is to contribute to the strong community spirit that Newton Abbot is renowned for. They are already in discussions with various charities in and around the area, exploring partnerships and discovering how this incredible facility can benefit the people of Newton Abbot.

When the doors swing open, Deo Gloria will prioritize sourcing products locally, as supporting local businesses in Newton Abbot is of utmost importance to them.

Exciting projects are on the horizon at Deo Gloria, both in the near and distant future. For instance, they plan to have a community table available for free hire, perfect for local reading, knitting, craft, or game groups. Mark your calendars for the upcoming family community events too! On Sunday, July 9th, from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm, head to Courtenay Park for a fabulous picnic in the park, organized in partnership with Christians together in Newton Abbot. And on Saturday, July 15th, from 10 am to 1 pm, join the big family fun event at the Courtenay Centre, featuring free activities, face painting, and entertainment for the whole family.

Let’s not forget the Christmas Hamper Project! Last year, Deo Gloria generously distributed over 1,800 Christmas hampers across Exeter and the surrounding areas, including Newton Abbot. This year, their goal is to give away 500 hampers in collaboration with local schools, churches, and charities.

The excitement is palpable as Deo Gloria prepares to join the vibrant Newton Abbot community. Stay tuned for more updates! We’ve reached out to them for further details, and we’ll make sure to bring you the latest on our website.
